Sunlight vs Shaving Accoutrements?
Until I have time to build a shelf/rack for my shaving things, I have the choice to either place them in in a cabinet hiding like something to be ashamed of, or on a windowsill where I can gaze upon them with anticipation and pleasure... LOL Unfortunately, my only available window space:
is a southern exposure window.
Thanks to our gloomy/dreary weather today there is no sunlight to be concerned with, but contrary to the image depicted above, the window generally gets sun from dawn to dusk. Should I be concerned that the sunlight will degrade the quality of the soaps or Bay Rum? Will the light fade/alter the handle of my Simpson? It will be a month or two before I have the time to construct an adequate shelf. Will damage be done in this time?

I would be careful about the gangs of straight shavers who happen by your window, start drooling over your soaps, break the window and steal them. Have you considered some bars over the window?

LOL, the window is far above ground level, and the razor won't get stored in the bathroom(once it returns from the honemeister) until I have built a shelf with a glassed/gasketed razor rack area.

There are some shave products especially scented products with natural ingredients that will deteriorate if left in sunlight over time. I'd be careful with the aftershave and soaps.

I would think you'd be fine if you're relocating them in April. I would be more concerned with LONG exposure to the sun over a 6 month period.
By the way, did the soaps come in those nice glass containers? If so, what kind is it? I like that look! I am going to be making my own soaps in the future and that would be a nice container to put them in!

I got the soap bowl idea from Glen. They are sold as Wal-Mart's "Home" brand, and are made by Anchor. The particular model pictured above is their Sugar Bowl, but they made a plethora of different sized/shaped vessels.
