Default Just bout a razor. HELP blue steel Special

Ok so I am a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff but I am very interested in starting. I was at "don't laugh" but a flee market where a vendor was selling knifes. He had this razor and one other in considerably worse shape. I bout this Razor for 40 bucks and i thought it was a good deal? Its a Kinfolks Blue steel Special... Idk what that means but the man said it was a branch off of the Case Family and idk if thats true or not.... Ok so here is what i do know.. right now the razor is really sharp but not sharp enough to shave with. found this out the hard way... does alot of tugging... ok I understand the hole stroping thing i grew up watching my grandfather do it. What i dont know is how i can get this knife I think the right word is honed... or if this razor is to old to even do this to.... i uploaded some pics please tell me what you think. O and ps was it a good bad or ok buy. 40$

    Welcome to SRP.
Unfortunately it is impossible to tell from pictures what would it take to make the razor shaving again. It may need stropping, it may need a touch up honing, it may need a bevel correction honing, it may need removal of oxidation, reestablishing a bevel and sharpening it all the way up.

We do not do appraisals, but whether it was a good buy it depends on how you look at it. If you take into account that you bought a razor that doesn't shave with significant and uneven hone wear, and you could've bought in this forum's classifieds section a better razor that is already shaving for less money than it would cost you after you make this one shave, then it's most likely not the best buy.

Sure, the classifieds has a member services section where you can find people who do this kind of thing:

    Welcome aboard!!
I own a Kinfolks Blue Steel Special and it honed up very nicely. It's a great shaver (I believe they are underatted). Made in the USA as well. You can use for Shave of the Day on Thursdays, check the forums for SOTD.

I to have that same razor, an agree it is a nice shaver.
Also agree to send out for honing to one if the members listed in the classifieds. Those guys do it out of love, and I feel the all charge a very fair price for their experience and skill.

Sorry not much to add other than agree, lol
