Back for another try
Hi everyone,
Haven't posted for a very long time, but I'm back for another try. I use a DE safety razor and get a great shave. About two years ago I tried straight shaving for a month and decided it just wasn't for me. But recently I've gotten the itch to try it again. So I purchased a Dovo Black Star razor and a 3" Latigo strop and off I go. I've now tried two shaves with it and I must say it does take getting used to, but I really like the concept. The feel of the blade in my hand is awesome. No turning back this time though. I've watched the videos on the forum and I've spoken with Lynn and got some great advice. Just want to say thanks to everyone who posts here. All the advice and encouragement is incredibly helpful. I'll let you know how I progress.
Have a great day and happy shaving!

Absolutely! It's time all to myself. I always have to remind myself to just slow down and enjoy the process. Thanks Pedro.

Welcome back. Definitely keep us posted regarding your progress. I think it will be interesting to compare the first go round with the second.

Don't get too quickly caught up in the quest for the perfect shave. I've lately given up on BBS shaves and am working instead on how quickly I can pull off a one pass straight shave and a one pass DE shave when pressed for time. I would love to luxuriate in the process all the time, but there are times when I need to to "git 'er done" and do something else. So far I've gotten in a straight shave in less than four minutes and a DE shave this morning in one minute and twenty seconds. I've found that "speed shaving" really tightens up your technique.
