Default Thank You and More Questions

I received my razor from Lynn yesterday. Thank You!

I want to try it out but haven't yet because I'm waiting for the Flat Bed Hone I bought from Keith at HandAmerican. ( I wanted to be able to strop the razor after using it).

The Flat Bed comes with a natural leather top for stropping but doesn't have a linen side. Is the linen side necessary? What does it add to the stropping function? Can I get by with just the leather?

    Thanks

    Bob

P.S.: If this has been answered deep within a previous post how should I have gone about searching for it?

    Hi Bob,

I like the Flatbed Natural. It will work fine by itself.

    Enjoy!!

    Default Perfect!

    Thanks guys.

I expect the Flat Bed to arrive any day. As soon as it does I'll go to town with my new Our Best. I'll post a report from the emergency room.

Linen is not necessary but a lot of us use it.

Be sure to strop just BEFORE! the shave, 30-60 roundtrip laps. Stropping after the shave is a debatable practice.

    Hope this helps,

I think using the linen before the leather may reduce the number of strokes necessary on the leather and thereby prolong the shaveability of the edge somewhat. I like the linen in moderation. I do about a dozen on the linen (20 if you're new and going slowly like you should be) and about 30 on the leather.

I love the sound of a finely honed razor on Tony's latigo leather....sounds so sexy....sometimes I strop more than I need to just to hear that sound.
