    Default 6th Shave - Improvement

Greetings all: Did my sixth shave this morning and I have definitely progressed. Concentrating on real short strokes and making sure my angle is less than 30 degrees has made a huge difference. Did two full passes, one WTG and one XTG. Only needed a slight touch up with my DE. Thanks to all for the advice posted here.

I have a question for you, when i did my first shave afterward i had HUGE razor burn, and i used after shave and cold water, but after the 4 shaves this stopped, did you feel this at any time when you started?

    Hi Zargart,
I have been shaving for over two years with a DE razor and using a badger brush to whip up my lather. I think this has gone a long way towards conditioning my face for a straight razor. Even so, I still feel some irritation with the straight. I think this is related to learning the correct angle and remembering to always use light pressure. It took me several months to get a consistent BBS shave with no irritation using my DE razor and there were many ups and downs during my journey. Be patient and enjoy the process.

Congratulations on your progress. Interestingly, I seldom get a razor burn with a straight but I have experienced some severe razor burn with a Fat Boy DE. I think I am more careful with the straights because they seem more dangerous. I also know I forget and push the DE as if it were a cartridge.

I am glad things are going well for you.
