The Dovo is a great razor.
Regardless of where you get your set, I recommend getting a razor that has been professionally honed. I have purchased razors from Straight Razor Design, Classic Shaving, and Vintage Shaving with good results.
Happy Shaving.

Factory honed is not likely to be shave ready. Here is some more info on this question.

Thanked: 1Classic Shaving does offer to have your razor professionally honed for an additional $19.95. Found it under the left hand menu. Looks like a good deal.
That second link is Lynn's site. From all I have read he is one of the most recognized razor honers in the U.S. I did my research and purchased my first razor through him. I am new to this but have been very impressed with my razor from him. It has survived all my noob efforts to destroy the edge such as learning to strop and awkwardness of holding the razor mixed with a few sink collisions. It is on month three and I still shave with it pain free. His set is well worth the price as well.
Regardless of where you buy, you can always send the razor out to be honed by someone from this site. Both of your options are Dovo razors, which are pretty awesome, so I would go with whichever you seem more comfortable with.

Thanked: 190This was one of my first purchases when I started using straight razors and I bought my set from Jim at Straight Razor : Double Edge Razor : Shaving Products Supplies : Merkur Safety Razor : Badger Shaving Brush : Men's Grooming Products : VintageBladesllc.com. The Dovo Special is a good razor that was forgiving and easily took a nice edge. I had to lap it on my pasted strop. .50 Chrom Ox every two shaves to keep the edge tuned to the way I enjoyed shaving and I still use the strop.
