    Default Antique mall find..

Was out shopping with the family and came across these for about $20 a piece. I polished them and did just a quick wiping of the grime. How do they look? Pictures 3 and 7 are of a razor with "Blue Steel Special" stamped on it. I failed to get a full picture of it. The yellow scaled one is a Prior (pic 1 and 6). The black scaled large razor is a Frederick Reynolds (pics 2, 4, and 5). From what I read somewhere they say that if the razor does not have country of origin stamped on it then it is pre-1891. Is this true? If so, I'll be double happy if Lynn can hone it up for use. There was a forth razor there but had a fairly good chip on the edge.

I'm also curious to know the answer to this question. Not sure i've ever heard of that but now that i think about it all the razors i have that are from the 1800s do NOT have any country stamped on the blade. Coincidence?

+1 on being curious about the date issue.

on the Antique Mall find! I can't tell from the pics, did you pick up two or three razors?

I've scouted out some antique shops around me and found all kinds of shaving goodies on the cheap. Just picked up a sweet Swaty hone on the cheap. Gotta love those antique stores!

    Peace,

    Peace,
I picked up three total. The fourth one had a fair sized chip on the edge. There are a few old DE razors and a few old but usable brushes as well down at that mall. If anyone might be interested in those I can always swing by and snap some pictures or grab any info off them I can.
Depending on how usable these new razors are this will bring me up to four total razors. Woot!!! I really can't wait to try a different razor.

1891 Madrid Accord I think you are referring to. One the tiny screen so can't really search it now the details of why. The document is available via searches, but it's dry reading. Imagine that out of a 120 year old legal doc, lol.

Something to the effect participating nations, goods imported were to be labeled with country of origin. Still possible if never intended to export out of England, the accord would not apply, and may only see Sheffield stamp if was for domestic sale.
