    Belicoso,

    What you are doing is EXACTLY what I was thinking of doing. Could you share with me what barber's hone you are using? That is the last piece of the puzzle for me. I expect to receive my "Special" by the end of this week.

    I'm curious as well. I'm thinking about picking up a barber's hone for exactly the same reason.

    I have a "perfection" home I got from e-bay. I made sure there were no cracks or chips and spent some time lapping it with sandpaper as recommended in the Wiki. I think I was lucky with my find, If I had to do it again I would buy one from one of the members or trusted sources from here.

    IMO, you can never go wrong with a Swaty, Franz or Pike. Just make sure it isn't cracked or has big chips anywhere the blade would contact.
