    Hmmm, I tried the x pattern a few times, but found the opposite. In moving the razor to the other side and settleling it down flat I ended shaving off tiny spots on the strop. 'Course it could be that I'm still getting used to just handling the razor. Thanks

    Yep. That will happen less and less as you become more habituated to the proper stropping motion.
