Thanked: 0i am not scandinavian but pretty close to that there so i also have the very thick blonde hair, you are saying lose the oil? i will try that. does anyone on here recomend me possibly going down to aos or someplace and getting a real sr shave to know how its really supposed to feel like?

Yessir, I would try without the oil, just to make sure that water really penetrates and wets the whiskers as much as possible.
A shave in a barbershop can be a wonderful experience.
Sadly, not all are as good as they can be.
I've had wonderful shaves with massage and all, completely BBS results.
But not on every occasion
I'm lucky to have an old Turkish barber in the neighborhood.

When you are only three shaves in you still have a lot to learn. There is a learning curve for using the straight razor.
Just stick to it, and it will get better. Don’t think of the BBS or perfect shave yet. Take your time.
