Observations after 2nd shave
I know most people do not care for a Shave by shave recount from every newb here. I really had no intent of adding to this tonight but I learned a few things on my 2nd shave that I thought might be helpful to those like me or those just buying there first straight and have not tried it yet.
So I am not going to lie, I really did not want to shave tonight. Not that last night was a bad experience, in fact it was an awesome first shave. I had managed to give my self a bit of razor burn on my right cheek and was dreading what it would feel like to shave it tonight. But I have some client meetings tomorrow so I really need to shave and look my best. Again I opted for the cold water shave and lathered up with my Williams. Tonight I thought I would try my Filarmonica 13 Dobel Temple. This razor scared me. Everything about it was big compared to my Schulze and even handling it while stropping felt awkward. I had honestly been considering trying to find someone who would trade a couple of the cheaper Dovo razors for it. Well I used it anyway. All I can say is wow!
First the shaving of the razor burn was nothing. In fact this thing gliding over my face felt so smooth and nice I did not even notice I had a bit of razor burn. The hard thing for those of us who have shaved for 25+ years with cartridges to get through our heads is this is not the same. The sensations are different and the issues that lift and cut vibrating 5 blade cartridges present are not the same.
As for the Size of the Fili. Non issue. I am not sure if it balance or something else that a SR member can share and enlighten us on but this thing was a breeze to use. Last night I was pleased to have gotten my sides and neck done. Tonight as I was working away and managed to get my chin, upper lip as well all WTG then XTG for 90% of it. I did not do 3 passes tonight as I did not want to aggravate the razor burn.
I did get a really small nic tonight on the corner of my mouth. I think it was from moving the razor around and not from shaving itself as I did not even notice it till I was finishing my one side. But it was such a small nic a little wipe with a towl and it was gone.

Congrats and thanks for sharing your thoughts on your shaves. I started with a Fili 14, and it goes well, the worst is that I couldn't see my face very well because the blade is huge....

That sounds wonderful.
Good on ya Mate.
Sounds like a great shave.
Nothing wrong with a properly honed Filarmonica
I'm glad you had a great experience with it.
Just a quick word of caution, it can get addictive you know...Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....
