10 Reasons why Your First Straight Shave Should Be Your Worst Shave Ever
1. You cannot be sure whether your blade is sharp.
2. You don't know how to strop.
3. You are scared to death or heavily medicated.
4. You don 't know what to expect.
5. You don't know how to hold the razor.
6. Your preparation sucked.
7. You have no idea what you are doing.
8. You think you're ready because you watched a video.
9. You forgot to paint your sink red before you start.
10. You can't spell S-T-Y-P-T-I-C.

But despite all of that it'll still be better than using some multi bladed piece of tat and a can of goop from Gillette..!

Geez, I gotta check what's in my Barbasol can again. I thought it read "Beard Buster". I know it's white so it can't really be poop, can it?

This reads like something that would be posted on the office wall of a cynical old timer who is about to retire and not something I would expect to see in the welcome room.
If you are so frustrated with encountering the same newbie learning curve issues and thoughts perhaps the beginners room isn't the place to hang out?

The important thing is that no matter how the early shaves go the subsequent shaves get better and better. Otherwise we wouldn't be on this board.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
