    Default Razor Tarnish

    Hello Gents,

Just wanted to get some different opinions/ ideas about a minor problem I've noticed with my razor. About a week ago I noticed a very small amount of tarnish on my practically new (6 months or so old) Dovo razor. The tarnish is only on one side, and is still so small that I couldn't even get a decent picture to show here. So here are my two concerns:
    1. whats the best way to remove this tarnish, ideally without anything like a dremel. I was thinking a jewelry cleaner might do the trick?
    2. Why is my razor already aquiring tarnish!?

I'm still very happy with the blade, and this hasn't affected the shaving at all. I believe I am very thorough when it comes to blade maintenance, I always strop before shaving and always remove any and all water after the shave with some toilet paper and store it in a dry place outside of the bathroom. So any and all tips about how to clean my razor, and how to prevent new tarnish from building would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

A metal polisher like MAAS should remove the tarnish, if that's what it is, and oiling the blade with mineral oil after drying it should prevent it.

Are you sure it's tarnish and not water spots? Either way some metal polish should remove it. Just be careful if you have any gold wash on the blade. Polish will take it right off.

The biggest cause staining on the blade is getting water in the scales. Most people think they get the scales all the way dry, but usually not. I normally recommend that only the blade get rinsed or wet during the shaving process.

    Have fun,

I rinse mine in very hot water, wipe with a dry towel, 10 passes on the strop and air dry with the blade open (no kids around) over night or all day. So far so good.

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys! I think I'm going to try out some MASS cleaner, and start adding a little mineral oil after each shave. Hopefully it will all work out.
