First Time Shaving
Hello everybody, this is my first time shaving and first time posting.
I'm 18 years old and recently bought a disposable straight razor (to see if I will like using a straight razor). I bought a shaving set (bowl, brush, soap) off the internet but it's not in yet and I couldn't wait haha. I have some pretty nice American Crew shaving cream so I just used that and for some reason, I could not get the razor to cut my face. I just ended up using a disposable razor to finish off. I know I'm going about it the wrong way, but did I do anything wrong with the razor... or is it just the soap???

Thanked: 6Hi welcome to SRP. What kind of razor did you buy? I bought a hair shaper razor once because it was cheap but it didn't work very well for a beard. THe type of cream you use may increase the comfort of your shave but it wont prevent the razor from cutting the hair. How are you holding the razor to your face ie the angle

Hello. Um... a Parker SRW Stainless Steel Straight Edge Barber Razor. The blades that come with it are disposable. The only problem is that I can't really see the blade that good because the piece that holds it in place blocks it from my view sort of. I'd like to say it's about 30 degrees but I really don't know. And, ironically, my soap kit JUST came in the mail after I posted this thread. So I'm going to use that next time.

Thanked: 6Nice that your soap came today. when you put the blade in the parker you should still see the edge of the blade protruding mabey 1/16 -1/8 of an inch. and with a replaceable blade straight you should start off with as little angle as possible. When I use mine the spin is almost touching my face. just lift the spine up until it starts to cut hair.
Good luck
