    Default Trading Procedure

I figured the Beginners section is the best place for this question.

I have several offers to trade my razor I listed in the classifieds under Want/Trade, but I have never done a trade before.

What is the proper procedure when trading? Or is it simply trust that each will send the agreed upon razor?

    Thank you!

At the end of the day it is a matter of trust. SRP nor anyone else can vouch for individual members. I would only trade with long-time SRP members or anyone recommended to me by a long-time member.

CAn not comment on SRP. But on a Forum that I own and run for a different hoby I have. The general practice is person with the least feedback or on the forum the shortest amount of time will ship first.

If in doubt you could always ask a Mentor or Sr Member to mediate. Have both razors shipped to them and they forward once both received.

Well, over here it's strictly buyer beware. The old adage on the watch forums is "buy the buyer" then the product.

The mods try not to get involved with transactions that have problems. It's really up to you to try and work things out. We will try and assist if we can but we are very limited and there is no vetting for member sales and minimal for vendors.

best advice is to trust the (old timers on srp) or have it sent to a mutual person that is from srp that can be trustworthy, most of these guys on here wouldent jip you but you can be to careful when its not a firmular member.

You know someone like utopia or glenn wouldent jip ya just from talkign with them so much, if they would do that there reputation on srp would be trashed.

Thanks for the advice. If a trade does happen I like the idea of having the razors sent to a reputable member.

I have one offer and another inquiry on my ad but I can't seem to locate either on SRP as a member. Very scary!

Well I got a second email from the person inquiring about my razor. I was offered money instead of a trade plus extra for shipping and he would Western Union it to me.

Before I blocked his email address I sent a very colorful reply.

Seems that SRP Classifieds is not safe from Internet scammers either. BEWARE!

In these types of situations I like to get a second reference. Maybe an eBay ID or something to show that the person is legit.

I once traded a Novadur for a EPBD with an SRP member with 10 posts only. I asked him if he had a reference. He turned out to be a good friend of a senior member. Trade went very well. So it might be an idea to ask for a reference.

Suggestion to the mods: can't we make the classifieds accessible to members only?
