    Default Progressing... :)

My shaves with a straight have been getting better and better. I've been sticking with the grain. Tonight I decided to do a second pass across the grain. That made the shave significantly smoother than just with the grain.

I also started shaving my head with the straight. I was inspired by another guy in the forum that loaded a video of him shaving his head with a straight. It's almost unbearable now to try to shave 4 days of growth with a mach 3 constantly clogging the blades with hair when I know I can just mow it down with a straight.

I'm slowly getting more and more hooked on straight razor shaving.

Quick question. Do you guys shave the right side of your face with your right hand and the left side with your left hand? Or do you sometimes switch it up and do the left side of your face with your right hand and vice versa?

I only just started not so long ago just like you.

I use both hands in this fashion :
WTG right hand > right side of my face // left hand > left side of my face
XTG right hand > left side of my face // left hand > right side of my face

While shaving WTG I find it natural to use the hand from the same side. For XTG I tried right hand for right side at the start, but eventually realise it would be easier the other way around.

Anyway, it's not so much important that you follow exactly what other people do. You have to find your own way. Try different techniques and eventually you'll find the one that suits you better and gives you the best shave.

Yeah, when I went across the grain at first I started with my right hand on my left cheek, but then I switched back over to right hand, right cheek etc...

I figured I would see what was working for other people too...

    Thanks for the reply

I'm strongly right handed, with left hand as dextrous as a flipper on a penguin. I've always shaved both sides with my right hand. At first, shaving the left side was harder. Now, oddly, it is the easier side.
