    Default 3rd Shave: Success!

So my first shave left a dandy of a nick across the chin, a good caution to be more attentive with the blade and where the edge is!

The second shave was going so well I decided to make a couple of tentative passes at the neck. I ended up with the kind of marks that scream self harm; I need your attention now! I managed to nick the skin directly over both the carotid and jugular areas. Thankfully they were only the most gentle of kisses from misjudged angles.

The third shave with lessons learnt was a huge success, first pass all over the face made for a nice smooth shave, rather than try for perfection around my throat I ended up tidying up with the Mach3. But ever straight shave is a step away from the world of disposables.

I'm still using disposables in a straight, but once I get the rest of the bits and pieces I'll be up and running with a full on straight. Based on my experiences so far I'm already looking for my second razor so I have a stand in whilst the other is sharpened.

Sounds like you are doing pretty well. Don't try too much too soon. The objective to prevent cuts is to simply never move the blade sideways. With the variety of angles and shaving direction, non-sideways is always an elusive direction.

Some careful skin stretching could help a bit too.

Plus one to this, I definitely found my straight shaving came along leaps and bounds as soon as a learnt to keep my skin tight and avoid the sideways action. About 5 shaves in I just 'got it' and haven't looked back. Good luck for continued success!!

+1 to the stretching the skin comments and thank you. I'm still using my Mach3 in the mornings when I am on the fly, but I'm making it a habit to stretch the skin, and even then I notice that it improves the quality of the shave (I don't have to make so may passes)
