Thanked: 0Old Joseph Elliot
Hi,
Just bought my first straight razor, a Joseph Elliot. I really don't know much about them, so I would appreciate all information about it: ie age, discription, value, handle, care, ect.
From what I have gathered so far, it appears to be an early one. Very basic mark and appearance. The blade is concave, 3/4" x 2-3/4". I believe, the handle is horn and has brass pins.
Please enlighten me.
Thank you.

Old, and looks to be in very good condition. If it hones, you will love the shave it gives. Does it say Sheffield on the back side?
More folks will chime in as time passes. Check the Wiki for more information.

Thanked: 0Thank you for responding.
It is extremely sharp. It doesn't say Sheffield, the only markings are the ones in the picture. That's why I thought it might be an early one.

You got yourself a lovely shaver there, hone it up and take it for a spin.
We do not do evaluations here I'm afraid, we are in it for the exquisite shaves

It looks like a very nice piece.
As str8fencer says hone it up, read all the info in the wiki, LEARN how to shave with it and after 50 - 100 shaves you will realise its true worth.
