Thanked: 0beard/mustasche shadow
Do any of you guys experience beard or mustasche shadow? I'm wondering whether a switch from de will fix the problem that I have with with a beard and mustasche shadow.

Why look who we have here. Welcome aboard brother-random
Actually I do have to give you a few warnings:
1) If you go straight, chances are you WILL develop a razor addiction and you'll be trolling the ebay for countless hours.
2) You may also develop a hone addiction which is just as bad.
3) You may want to shave multiple times a day, not because of necessity, but because it just feels so GOOD.
This takes care of my legal obligation. As for the shadow, you already heard my take on it. I'll let other people have their say.

Random,
Probobaly not. If you are getting close shaves with a DE, this is something you will have to live with. I've seen this explained at the DE forums, and if I recall correctly, it is actually the reclection of light off of your beard which causes this. Thick, heavy and dark whiskers are the cause.

Generally it's with the grain first pass then against the grain 2nd pass. Or you can try with, cross, against in a 3 pass pattern. It took me several weeks to train my face with a str8 for shaving against the grain.
My beard isn't super thick, but rather super wiry and grows fast. When I was using safety razors I couldn't shave against the grain to save my life. I'd regularly have to shave 2 times in a day when important evenings were a factor. Now I shave against the grain pretty much every shave.
And while switching from a DE to a str8 MAY not solve the problem it will definitely make for a better shaving experienc IMHOLast edited by Flanny; 08-09-2006 at 03:38 AM.

Thanked: 0blah, i always shave against the grain ever since i started
i get a really smooth shave with either cartridge razors or de's either way
i just might give feather razors a try as they seem to be sharper than straights and are easier to maintain

Random,
If you are already getting a really smooth shave
how could you possibly shave any closer?
Go ahead an try a feather or a straight. It's
definately an enjoyable experience worth
exploring.
I do wish you luck though.
