Thread: First shave today

Well my razor came yesterday and I couldn't wait to give it a try thank goodness today was my day off. So I hit the shower spent a lot of time prepping my face got a good lather up and started with my dominant side and fully intended to stop after 1 pass there for the day but it went so well I ended up doing WTG XTG and ATG on both sides. I was not dumb enough to even attempt my neck yet. I had a great experience and had so much fun doing it I actually can't wait to shave again. I'm so glad I decided to make the switch from my Mach 3 to the straight and I'm even happier I found SRP to help me build this enthusiasm into a lifelong passion. Thanks for all the help and advice that I've gotten here and thanks in advance for all the great advice I know I will be getting in the future. And like so many others I got to step out of the bathroom and say look ma no blood.

Congratulations! You're doing fine.

The neck may require an ATG pass with your razor, when you decide to tackle it. The beard on most necks grows in different directions.

Remember that everyday may not proceed as smoothly as today, but the thought of achieving that perfect shave the next day is well worth it.

I had my second shave last night with an infinitely higher confidence level. Had a much improved shave and much less irritation. The strokes are coming easier already and I am really excited for the day I can ditch the mach 3 for good. But I keep telling myself patience is key it's been a great experience overall and this forum and all the resources have been a great help thanks to every single person out there.

Congrats on your str8 shaving. As you stated, patience is the key. The shaves will get better as you learn to stretch your skin and learn the direction your whiskers grow. The second you forget, the razor will remind you to be humble.
