Welcome to the forum Tinuz, I tend to keep a low angle myself and you hit it on the money with the sweet spot. I always start out with the spine against the skin and gradually lift it to get an angle going; that helped eliminate a lot of nicking.
You keep on trucking yourself and many great shaves to you!

You're right you definitely have to find the sweet spot on the edge.
I'm only using the straight razor to shave daily, all I do is shave, dry it off and restrop it. Hopefully it lasts a while.
I've noticed that I mainly shave with my right hand and I've realized my facial hair grows in weird directions!!! Lol
