Thanked: 2Barber's Hone
I sharpened one of my grandfathers old Wadsworth and Sons hollow ground razors using a barber's hone that I purchased from Larry over at whipping dog. Between the barbers hone and the stropping I got a pretty nice edge. I compared it to the edge from a razor that I bought from the classifieds here that was oh so sharp and sweet. I shaved with it and oh yes it did a very nice job. I have been having trouble with the ATG pass under my jaw line and have just been able to get a smooth cut from me sharp Wester Bros. razor. The Wadsworth did a nice job on this pass as well. Now I'm pretty dang pleased with myself so far. The Wadsworth isn't pretty to look at, it's got some staining and such from the last 40 plus years of no attention. But it is sharp enough to cut thanks to the wiki information here! Thanks to you guys!

Congrats on your success, that's no small achievement honing a razor on a barber's hone. Well done.

Thanked: 21I get alot of satisfaction from sharpening an unknown, ebay special to a useful edge. Getting your granddad's old razor to shaving sharp must be the best! Nicely done!
