Permission to come abord, NewB checking in
Hello,
Been a lurker here for awhile. Finally checking in here. Been around the other wet shaver forms so I'm not totally a NewB to wet shaving. Have shaved with a Fromme to test the waters. Recently sent my Great Grandfathers Wade and Butcher off for a restore. Expecting it back in the next few weeks and will be making it a part of my permanent rotation when it arrives. I am into using my gear. I respect these tools and want to carry on the tradition. I knew my Great Grand Father, and honor his generation. He lived to be 105 years old. I expect to hand these tools down to my Son and Grandsons, and will expect this tool to be handed down to their sons. It will be a great honor for me to start shaving with his razor when it arrives. I will be learning the proper way to care for and maintain my straights in the process. Oh, by the way... I like collecting too. So I expect to come across many more straights... and I really like Menthol.

Thanked: 1371Welcome to SRP!
It would be awesome to have an heirloom razor to shave with. Enjoy that first shave when you get it back!

I'm with HNSB... an heirloom sounds great. Good for you! You are correct about: if you take care of it, you will pass it down. What can you buy nowadays that will still function at 100% for your grandson?
Welcome to SRP!
I love menthol, as well. Proraso soap is nice.

Enthusiastic welcome, Don.
'Also envious about starting w/ an heirloom. May it serve you and yours well.
Not new to wet shaving, but maybe to str8s? If so, some time on the wiki & FAQs will be time well spent. Post all questions, 'cause there's no better place learn, foul up, correct, perfect and enjoy the outrageous shaves our forebears were used to. The quality of help here and the attitudes are better than any forum on any topic I've seen. 'Look forward to hearing how the journey goes. FWIW, a year into it - the fun shows no sign of fading. Shaving is now a joy.

welcome!!!
What a great find, to get one that's been in the family. It would give a lot more meaning to any of mine were it owned by my grandpa or great grandpa. Wow, that's cool...-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --
