    +1

recall that a leather strop has some strop dressing
on it. A complex mix of oils, waxes and stuff
go into strop dressing and combine with the
minor abrasive action to keep minor rust at
    bay on the edge.

I've always been under the impression that MAAS had a corrosion inhibitor in it.

Hello! I have two questions related to this thread. Firstly, can I use steel wool to remove rust, and if so, what should I use it with?

Secondly, I own mineral oil and have decided to oil my blades. Should I use the oil on just the blades and should I then take it off after ten or so minutes, or should I leave the oil on until next shave??

If you want to use real steel wool, then only use the very fine stuff. You can use either with a metal polish or you can use a light oil like 3 in 1.
You can leave the oil on the blade until the next shave.

Edit: If you don't have steel wool, you can also use aluminum foil.
