I have been doing a lot of reading of the wiki and the forums gathering information and studying some of the fine points of straights. I have been sharpening woodworking, jewelry, and kitchen tools for well over 30 years and realize that razors are a whole new ballgame.
When I decided to pull the trigger on straight shaving I bought a razor at my local "stuff" store to experiment with, a BO-RAS-IC that was very dull, and, it developed, with a bent spine. I also just bought a "shave ready" razor from the classified section.
Sharpening the BO has been interesting. Today I was able to shave with it, just a wtg pass on each cheek, butt it actually removed most of the hair on those passes!
I have no illusions of competency with regards to honing or stropping, and I imagine I will learn from the razor that is coming from the classified section here. I am encouraged by the lack of bloodshed today though!
Does anyone have any suggestions on dealing with the bent spine of my bo?
