Thanked: 0Just bought my first straight razor
Hello everyone,
I purchased my first straight razor on sunday at the local flee market. I was looking at getting a dovo but when I saw this one for $20 I thought how could i go wrong. I was wondering if anyone can tell me a little about what i have bought and if $20 is a good price. Here are a few pictures. Does boker make amboss mann or is it a different company? I tried googling amboss mann and didnt come up with much.
Thank-you

Nice looking razor. I really don't think there's anything to worry about. To use the "Solingen" name, a razor's steel had to meet certain requirements. With a good honing, it should shave as good as a Dovo.
Glad to have you here.I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

I am sure it will be a fine razor, and anything that you can get shave ready for 20.00 is a deal IMO.
It is not a Boker it is AMBROSSMAN by Rud Frauenzimmer, here is a link to a german forum showign original box and apparently Ambrossman translates to Anvil man
Alle Hersteller: Rud. Frauenzimmer (Solingen)

Welcome to the forum.
Very nice find. I would also say that boker had nothing to do with the razor other than the location.
I would suggest to send that to a honer, but with your postal issues right now...
I'm sorry, I don't know anyone in your area either.

Thanked: 13I really have to go to more antique stores and flea markets. I ordered a spanky new Dovo for a helluvalot more than $20, and kind of have no idea what part of Canada Post swallowed it up for the duration of the lockout...
I really like the look of that razor. How's the edge? I'm imaging it's got to go get honed.
