Opinions requested on my new blades
Hello fellow members,
I'm new to the site and to collecting razors. I purchased my first two razors via e-bay from an estate liquidator(I think). Even thought it is not my first time with a straight blade they are the first actual one piece razors I own, meaning that my previous experience was with a very inexpensive two piece razor that uses half blade from a double edge safety razor. It was aquired during my college years to trim my beard. Recently retired from the Navy and able to sport a beard again decided to dust off the old razor for beard trimming and experiment on collecting a few actual fixed blades.
The two razors, according to the seller were old stock out of an old barbershop and apparently never used. The first one is a Soligen made Amboss Mann #60 farely wide blade with a cobalt blue handle and according to my limited knowledge in pristine condition. The second one is an ED Wusthof Barber King #377 5/8 stainless steel also from Soligen. The later one to my dismay has several ondulations on the edge,(It resembles the belly fin of a clown knife fish if you've seen one)
Can it be straightened? Who will be the authority on this kind of repair? Is it expensive to have this work done? I already invested $93.00 on it, seems it will end up costing more than its worth. The Amboss Mann I got for 120.00 is it too much for such a razor? The insights from you veteran collectors will be very appreciated.
Thanks.
