Thanked: 13rd full face shave!
Today I had my third full shave!
It went pretty darn well, but what makes it special was everything I needed for a full kit arrived today. No more glop from a can, I got to use a nice badger brush and some quality soap to lather up and to finish I had an alum block to give me some feedback on how I did. Having all my gear I took the some time to experiment with it.
I tried lathering my soap in a mug and on the face, and found It was easier to get a rich lather on the face. Actually I kept getting water into the mug after I made a good rich lather which ruined my mug lather. So I gave up trying to keep my mug warm and applied the soap directly to my face. But next time I will try my new shaving cream in the mug. I noticed a huge difference in the sounds my razor made with this lather, much louder then with the canned glop. The sound it makes as it goes across my face gives me a lot of feedback about what I'm doing angle wise too.
I have heard a lot about new brushes being smelly but mine had what I though was a nice musk after I got it wet. I'm sure it will fade with time though. I have started xtg and atg passes, the shaves are definitely getting closer. Funny thing about the angle though is going too shallow on any pass and the side of the razor starts to stick to my skin and builds up enough resistance to stop the pass. To top it all off after doing 6 or so passes in the name of experimentation the alum block only stung a tiny bit. Its definitely been a fun experience trying out my new gear and my dexterity is still slowly improving.

man, it sounds like your on your way!!! I find too shallow of an angle and the blade just like glues to my face, I have to lift and start over. To high of an angle and the blade just sort of sticks right into my skin. Again, a lift and start over. Right in between and I can hear the wiskers popping off like crazy. It's so cool!!
It took me a month before I tried a AGT, so you must be doing very well.
Good luck mate!!!
M-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --
