Thanked: 0first shave went well considering
well I am not one to handle anticipation well..... ask anyone lol so I ordered a straight razor shave ready from holli4.... but yesterday I went to a couple local antique shops and found a really nice solingen razor It seemed shave ready based on the whiskers on the inside of the scales lol
so after some
I gathered the razor a strop I use to sharpen knives and went to work and ended up with a decent edge I think at least to a beginner it seemed ok.... I then went to the bathroom and after a nice shower I snagged a bar of soap and a loofah from my girlfriend and lathered up lol I then proceeded to shave with my new used razor..... It went quite well I must say, I cant say its better than my gillette but It was a ton more fun and I got a bug out of my system until my razor and shave kit arrives lol.... I really like it and did surprisingly well if I say so myself, I only had one knick and it felt great and once again this is after a night of
not to many though that might have hurt lol I had a good time and cant wait until my kit arrives. I think Im hooked now my next problem is I would like to find affordable honing stones and I cannot wait to wet shave the proper way lol

Good start. Remember that for all the bad press that cartridges get here, they work surprisingly well. Don't expect to outdo your cartridge shaves until you have some shaves behind you.

Thanked: 0I've had worse shaves from cheap dollar store bulk razors for sure and yeah I def used her loofah lol and it even did an ok job but once again im speaking with no experience to back my claims up lol plus looking in the mirror this morning theres a place on my neck where I always inevitably get razor burn and there isn't any there so Im pretty ecstatic about this razor and Im hooked on shaving this way now

Very cool. People didn't always use the best of the best. Most people had to deal with what was available. You did just that. Watch out with that loofah though, that's a lot of extra exfoliation.
Its nice to hear that you are into this. I think you'll be surprised when you try a shave ready edge.

Nice job!
It'll take you a little time to get competent with a straight razor so just keep at it and things will get better and better. You'll absolutely end up getting better shaves from a straight than the M3 or something, theres simply no comparison.
Good luck and keep us posted!
