    Default First shave

So i've been putting off shaving with a straight razor for a while and i figured it was time to man up. I was gifted a nice DOVO razor from the art of shaving store along with a small strop. Still a little weary since i didnt want to mess up the blade or dig too deep into my skin i went out and bought one of those straight razors with the cartridge blades instead. I gotta admit there was nothing to be afraid of since it went pretty smoothly. Took my time preped my face with a hot towel and then warmed up the lather so i enjoyed the time it took about 30 mins. got a few nicks but i figured that would happen. im going to keep shaving with the cartridge straight razor untill i have a little more technique and then im going start with my DOVO!

here's a pic of what i used today nothing fancy

Start using the real straigh right away, it will be smoother than the Shavette!

I'd stick with the disposable and in the meantime get the Dovo sent out for honing. It very likely is not "shave ready" and will cause you concern until you get it properly honed. New razors don't always come shave ready, and, if I'm correct, AOS is one of those sources that does not get the razor professionally honed.

Ah true Ace, coming from AOS it will certainly not be shave ready.
