Thanked: 0New member intro with a question
Hello,
My name is Jim.
It is the 4th of July 2011. I have just ordered some gear( merkur hd,Vulfix 2235 super badger, the art of shaving sandalwood cream and aftershave balm). Believe me I can't wait to get them!
Anyway I was sittin here talkin to my stepdad. I mentioned how I was going to get into wetshaving. He jumped and went digging through his shed. He brought out a straight razor that he said belonged to his grandfather. I was pleased to receive this gift.
Now I don't much about straight razors so I thought I would consult this forum.
This razor is stamped W.R. Case and Sons Bradford PA on one side and " MONKEY" made by experts Solingen Germany on the other side. The scales are yellow with metal inlays. One inlay in a monkey holding a straight razor over his head. Can anyone tell me about this razor?

Welcome to SRP. I don't know about that particular model but W.R. Case & Sons made first class razors and some of the most collectible pocket knives known to man. I have quite a few of the latter and also a few of their razors. If you post a photo of the 'monkey' razor we can tell you if the condition warrants sending it out for pro honing.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

yes pics please. Most Case razors were made in the U.S by Case however they did have them made for them later in their history and since it's marked Pa that's later in their history.

Awesome discovery! Sounds extremely promising! AOS Sandalwood is one of my favorite soaps, I'm gonna keep using it as my primary soap until my MdC comes in..
