Thanked: 0Me and my Beard... Help wanted please :)
Im eighteen years old and ive been shaving since mid 15, i've tried disposable, electric shavers, shick/gillete etc hand held razors, and even though they all got the job done the disposable sucks in my opinion.. the electric misses spots or gives me a friction burn, and the hand helds work but meh.. there just not fun anymore. I've been asking my parents to buy me a straight razor for some time now about a year actually (just lazy and don't wanna spend my own money) and i was having a conversation with my grandpa about it the other day, discussing what i wanted, and how i didnt just want any old straight razor, i wanted either something with finesse or history. Being the interesting guy he is he went off with a story or two and eventually told me he had two straight razors in his basement from his father and he would be willing to give them to me if i promised to take care of them, which I of course did. So now here I am with a clear red handled "Weck Hair Shaper" from the mid 50s/60's with the disposable/replacable blade and a generic stainless steel "made in japan" straight razor. I would like to start using the "Weck" A.S.A.P. for a multitude of reasons, but mostly because i havn't shaved in a week and a half with the expections of shaving next with my straight razor. I have however hit a wall regarding certain things, I live in London, Ontario, Canada and i've been checking online the last few days to try and find a place that i can buy the replacement blades but to no avail, I don't want to order online and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just signed up with SRP today and i've been skimming through some of the articles and materials but as ive discovered, there's alot more to this then i had originally expected, this however hasn't deterred me but left me wanting to know more, if anyone could recommend any information or videos, links etc. to help me get started and on my way with the whole process of gettiing my face clean and smooth, my growing beard and i would greatly appreciate it
-Much obliged

Keith,
Check out the SRP wiki, lots of good info for beginners there. Also, there are some good links to shaving technique videos.
Let us know how you are getting on, and ask any specific questions you may have.
Good luck.
