Thread: Balloon

I am completely new to SR shaving and was talking to a barber and he told me the way he learned when he was younger was to blow up a balloon and put shaving cream on it and to practice that way. If you pop the balloon that would equal a cut. Has anybody heard of this or tried it. The thing I was thinking is it trains you how to shave somebody else rather than you own face

This used to be a common thing in barber schools. If you weren't able to shave the baloon without popping it, you wouldn't be certified to shave customers.

I don't know about that. I don't see what a balloon surface has to do with a persons skin. I remember years ago back East Barber Schools were open to the public and you could just walk in and get a shave and haircut for a song. Of course you were the victim for the barber trainees. This is how they learned.

Sounds funny and messy. Quite common though.
