In my case, any NOS razor I purchase is usually going to be a "used" razor within 48 hours after the postman drops it at my door.
Excellent post Sir! I am totally in sync with you about NOS razors (they're just waiting to be used, aren't they?)
I am also very happy NOS collectors exist - that just means that there will be more NOS straights for me to buy in the future.

Brilliantly written and excellent advice ! I'm only a few months
into straight shaving myself . You can get excited and go berserk
on reading up on razors and scouring the classifieds here .

I only have four razors and am happy with that amount (so far.....) .
I could see by reading many fine gentleman's posts , of how
SRAD can sneak up and take over .

So I just decided there is no point getting more razors , until
I can actually shave my face and strop properly , keeping the edge .

I suppose a hundred years ago , most men only had one soap , one strop ,
one hone and one brush - one face too I reckon !

    My fifty pence thoughts !

    Cheers ,

    Scott

I have condensed my philosophy even more.

Whenever I am deciding about spending discretionary income….I use this formula:

How many “HAPPY UNITS” enjoyed, PER dollar spent?

    Cheers!

This is a great thread; thank you DLB for launching it.

My razor collection has its notable firsts: first one I managed to shave with, first one that arrived shave-ready, and most important, first well-informed purchase.

Great condensation of milestones. I can remember all three occasions in my own journey. However, I bought several razors BEFORE my first well-informed purchase. LOL
