In the long run I will have saved money by switching from Gillette "Good News" disposables to straight razors ...... If I live to be 500 years old .
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Great little thread you have going here.
I don't try to rationalize RAD anymore. That is initially done for self and eventually for SWMBO. I found a way around it; my wife has RAD! If I show her a cool razor for a low price, she has me purchase it. Its awesome. Of course I no longer have any money for razors

How on earth did you manage that! Mind control, you have discovered mind control haven't you?
However, it is surly your obligation to spread the word to all of us! who needs the 1001 excuses when you can just brain wash SWMBO!
And please don't make us use paypal for the answer, such knowledge should be available to every guy!Last edited by Brighty83; 07-15-2011 at 02:29 PM.

Rationalization is just another word for self-delusion. RAD is not subject to reason or rational thought. Real RAD is a compulsion. Guys who have five, ten, or even twenty razors are only suffering from the initial symptoms of RAD. Much like someone with the sniffles comparing themselves to someone with a terminal case of pneumonia. Here is the thought process of someone with full blown RAD:
1. I see a razor.
2. I want that razor.
3. I buy that razor

It is a process, most of which I cannot reveal. Start by asking if you can shave her with a DE; make a real bonding moment over it. Progress her into DEs for her regular use. The next time you shave her bring both a straight and DE. Try the straight make it relaxing and fun. Eventually purchase a straight for her (4-5/8, round point, heavier grind, smooth as silk). After that you are in, but watch out; your razors could become hers.
The rest of the information Joe and I will take to the grave.
Good luck.
