Thread: SRD Premium IV Strop Rocks!

I never could get my razor to HHT sharp. Well now I can! The strop makes all the difference. I was using a cheap 2 1/2 inch strop before that was hard as a brick. Now I know what it's like to really strop!!!!

i been thinkin to get this strop, how's the draw, is it thick or thin leather? the only good strop I have are the 4-5 months old one. really takes time to break these leathers

SRD does sell some outstanding strops. I have one and love it. Don't get wrapped around the axle about the HHT. About the only thing I find useful about it is that you can impress your friends with it. Otherwise, the only real test is the shave. Passing the HHT doesn't mean a smooth shave.

Yup it's very nice, and I just love the leather smell

My wife bought me the Premium IV last year for our anniversary - that strop is absolutely awsome. Enjoy!

The draw is much more consistent than the other stops I've tried and I love the woven strop. The leather is thick but supple.

Indeed, the reputation of SRD's strops precedes them. However, to strop effectively it is far more important to learn how to get the most out of your equipment, rather than rely on a new product. In the end it's up to the operator, not the equipment.

The SRD strop is the one I purchased first. After buying many more, I went back to the SRD.

I just ordered one from Whipped dog. He has some English bridle leather for insane prices.

I made the mistake of getting the SRD Premium IV as my first strop. Needless to say, it has a lot of beginner's cuts and nicks on it.


But, I sanded them down and it still works great.
