First shave with real SR
So after a bunch of shaves with DE, then a bunch more with the Dovo shavette, I received my Dovo Best Quality 5/8 today, and promptly had my first shave with it. A few things I learned thus far.
1) It is, as was told to me, significantly smoother than the shavette.
2) The shaving angle is a lot less forgiving than with the shavette.
3) I need a lot more practice.
That said, I loved it, and I didn't cut myself. (Win win) Afterward I wiped it down and stropped it, hopefully I did an OK job. Currently I only have the shaving cream I purchased with my AoS starter kit, which I enjoy, but there is not much to it and after being on here I see how overpriced they are. Now I'm scouring for my next lather, tossing the idea around of trying a shave soap next. Any recommendations? I've been using the Lavender AoS of shaving cream.

That's a good beginning, better than mine, and I started with a Shavette as well.
My favorite soap is Cade, available at L'Occitane. It is expensive but lasts forever.
I have their shave cream as well, and it is also very good. Just a little dab of it
creates great lather very easily.
Good luck in your future shaves!

Well done with the SR shave. Sounds like you definitely had a win. I have a couple of soaps but my favorite is a Bairley Farm soap, melon and cucumber. It lathers really well. I also have a Truefitt and Hill shave cream that I love, Trafalgar scent.
I hope that your shaves continue to improve.

Thanked: 485Well done, sounds like you're on a roll. My favourite soap at the moment is Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad soap mixed with Body Shop Maca Root and Glycerin to make an awesome Überlather. You need to try an Überlather, it is so, so smooth...

Thanks guys. I'm really enjoying my shaves now, and I just ordered a puck of Edwin Jagger sandalwood and a puck of mitchells wool fat to try, but I have put your suggestions on my "to get list". Str8Raz0r, where do you find the Bairley farm soap? I googled it and couldn't find anything.
Again, thanks for the good wishes and suggestions guys.
