    Default Oil

I was wondering what kind of oil I can apply to my straight razor for storage. I am deploying soon and I dont want to take my expensive Dovo razor with me to the Stan.

    Thanks all
    Ben

Camellia oil is pretty good for short term, for longer I hear people recommending some of the gun storage products. See this thread for advice on this matter. Best of luck.

Are you talking about long term storage, or stored overnight, or for the length of your rotation!

I was talking with Glen last week, and he said nothing seems to work better than true WD-40 (really!! I know!).

    Ben,

As others have said, it somewhat depends on how long you will be storing the razor.

For true long-term storage, I treat the blades with Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide. After this has dried I apply a coat of RIG grease.

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

If you do take it with you, you'll certainly not have any moisture problems this time of year!

I use baby oil for short term storage, that is until I get to that razor again in my rotation. I don't know how comfortable I would be relying on it for a long time, you might be better off with some quality gun oil.

+1 ballistol is great for every day use. Probably could use it for longer term storage too.
