Thread: Where in Chicago?

Now im getting closer to my trip to Chicago, but im trying ti find a place to go looking for a straight razor ( i have found a barber that can shave me so i can try the feel first) but due to the traveling around and not staying at the same hotel all the time, ia store would defenitly be the best thing.

So im looking for a store that have shave ready straight razors (i have found Art Of Shave and Merz, but im not sure they are shave ready).

Allso a little tip on what to buy would be nice, i have a budget that says 200$ but that is including razor, brush, shave soap or foam, maybe pre shave oil, maybe a scuttle but i do have a cup in the kitchen that i could take for the shaving, if the money can include a strop, that would be perfect to, but i have read several places that if in need newspaper can do the trick.

If it takes a drive out of chicago, that wont be a problem, as long as we stay within 1½ hour drive, since my wife have a lot of plans

Well, I'm not sure there's many, if any, places in Chicago-major that have shave-ready razors. My suggestion is to get in touch with Mike over at The Restored Razor - Straight Razor Shaving as he's got some in-stock blades he's ready to sell. As for brush, soap and the other necessities, Merz and/or Art of Shaving will have all you need. For a strop, I'd set my money aside and order a quality one from one of the vendors here. Your quality-to-dollar ratio would go much further than what you can pick up on-site, seeing as how I believe AOS is the only store that stocks strops.

Mike is also a member and vendor here at SRP, and is located within an hour of the city.
