    Default My first razor

Yesterday I sent a fine gent from this forum funds for my first razor. A real nice Emperial. I cant wait for it to arrive! Pinklather is a great guy(thanks pink!) I saw a deal on this forum about how straight shaving can save money over disposables, but it left out the chance that you can turn into a collector and restorer and end up spending millions LOL! Oh well. life is good. Years ago my wife got me a gift card for a straight razor shave at a fancy place in town. I loved the shave but the place was a little fancy feeling for me. Real salon type place, and me heavily tattood and wearing bib overalls (my nice going out on the town bibs mind you) anyway loved the shave and knew one day I want to do that myself. so again I love SRP and I am so glad I found this place.

    Welcome,

Yes indeed, straight razor shaving can be far more cost efficient than consistently buying disposable blades but in reality, well at least my reality it does not work out that way.

I purchased a DE to save money on cartridges and to experience a more traditional shave and now 2 years later I have progressed to a straight razor to be even more traditional.

But in the last 2 years since I purchased that DE I have found that I have got a taste for the shaving addiction (hence being on this forum to begin with) so the money I am not outlaying on plastic cartridges I am spending far more on exotic soaps, creams, alum blocks, witch hazel, lather bowls, leather strops, oils for pre-shave and razor protection and that list is just off the top of my head.

I would hate to be asked to add up all the money I have spent in the last 2 years on shaving related items, but at the end of the day you buy what makes you happy and treat yourself to a little luxury each day and it’s a good reason to lock yourself away from the daily BS grind as you take time out to shave.
