It is wonderful to hear of your great success with your first SR shave. I wish I could say mine was that successful but I would only be lying. My first SR shave was with a very dull razor that had a sharp spike point. I didn't remove any hair but I did manage to use the spike to put a two-inch slash in front of each ear. My lather was RED not PINK! I did wise up and bought a shave-ready razor from Lynn at SRD.

Now with 200+ shaves, it is all going really well. But, you can never let down your guard. This evening I was preparing to go to a choir rehearsal in preparation for a memorial service tomorrow for one of my close friends. I was in a hurry and emotionally upset. I caught the spine of my razor on my upper lip which flipped the full edge of the razor down on my lower lip, where it ever so gently caressed the skin, leaving a 2-inch line of slow seeping blood. (Darn, those Filarmonicas are really, really sharp! They are so beautiful that it is easy to forget that they are also dangerous.") Fortunately, a styptic pencil and an Alum Block removed all evidence of my stupidity. NOTE TO SELF: "If you are upset or in a hurry, DON'T USE A STRAIGHT RAZOR!"

I hope you continue to have great success. It only gets more rewarding.

Good Luck and Happy Shaving!
