    Default Who is Forestal?

    Good Morning All!
I have been using a DE for some time now and have developed an appreciation for the razor and the results (BBS) I am getting. I am now ready to move on to a straight razor. I have purchased a Dovo "Forestal" 5/8" from SR Designs after a lot of time and research. I couldn't find any history regarding the name "Forestal." If anyone can give me some information, this would be of great interest to me.
Thanks very much and have a great day!

I think ‘Forestal’ is basically another translation for the word ‘Forest’ as in a dense growth of trees.

The Dovo Forestal has decorative features that one can imagine to be in the theme of a forest and the text font on the blade also may add to this, the general design does scroll and liken to nature, trees, leafs or whatever you interpret into this.

I think Dovo just chose this name and tried to adapt the razor with this theme and I do not think Forestal is a who (a person) but a living thing (a forest).

It's also a monster from Steven R Donaldson's books, but I doubt that's what you mean coincidentally though his main character shaves with a straight razor.

The word Forestall, with two Ls is the basis of the name. it means to keep prices low, or down. It sometimes is referred to in use as, "to provide an inexpensive option" or "flood" the market. It is one of Dovo's marketing concepts and probably named by the marketing department.

It comes from fore-stall, as in "to prevent or stop, by action in advance".

    Default Thanks for the Info!

    Good Morning!
I just finished shaving and then went to my email.
Thanks for all the responses to my question. This clarifies it. I like the forest reference especially. I could only think of battle ships, given that this was a German blade and there was already a Dovo Bismarck.
    Have a great weekend!

I think there is a US aircraft carrier with a similar name. Ship names would make for a great run.

I do like the looks of that razor, especially the big polished pin at the wedge.

You can use it to forestall stubbliness.

If memory serves, the USS Forrestal caught fire in the Tonkin Gulf. Ah yes, here's the video:
