Smoother shave
What a great feeling when all things start to come together. Got some good advice on my lather mixing that made the blade glide across my face and not drag. And after 5 honings and test shaves I believe my straight is finally sharp. Now its onto technique to start getting smoother shaves. Just have to remember little steps. Thanks to this forum and all the great advice that is here.

JohnG10 helped me when he said a couple things. 1: the lather shouldnt look like canned and 2: it should rinse off your blade easily. So while i was mixing I would dip the tip of my blade and rinse. Then add more water tell it rinsed off pretty easy. Seemed to work for me

Thanked: 443That's an interesting test. I usually only notice the rinse property well into the shave (duh). Even though my lather usually works for me, I'll keep an eye on that.
I have had some lathers bother my skin when I mixed them too thick. The Body Shop's Maca Root cream, mostly, though otherwise it's quite nice stuff.
I type this a lot: when your razor is properly sharp, you won't even feel it shaving. You'll just use it to scrape the lather off and the whiskers will follow as an afterthought.
