Thanked: 485You can learn a huge amount just by lurking; but the results are increased exponentially by talking. I have, over the years, joined many forums on different subjects, but I've never found one where you get so many quick replies, even considering the bulk of users are probably from the other side of the planet from me! I find on other forums there are a select few who always answer, but here, a wide range of people wade into the conversation and aren't afraid to differ politely with an opinion. This way, you get a well rounded and very deep knowledge. This is, in my opinion, the BEST site for Straight Razor Shaving, but you all already know that :-)
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

I kinda dove right into straight razor shaving. I picked myself up some shaving cream, after shave balm, a strop, 3 razors (one which was properly honed and the others not so much.) along with some other goodies. Now I'm interested in buying a hone. So my question is this... Would a naniwa 12k serve a beginner better or a norton 4k/8k combination stone? Keep in mind I know honing is not something I have to do all the time, but I thought it would be cool to learn and possibly get into restoration. Also the two razors I will be practicing on are cheap old timers that won't be missed.

As of right....NOW, there are 693 guests on the forum, if all the guests joined now, they would send the SRP membership over 35,000. What are you waiting for?
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???
