Thanked: 0alum and styptic?
where is a store, not a website, that i could go to in order to buy an alum bloc or a styptic pencil? I live in Federal Way WA, and i dont want to play like 10$ shipping for a 3$ alum bloc.

You can find a styptic pencil at Walgreens or Wal-mart usually. The alum block is harder to locate. I've, in fact, never seen one for sale in a store. They serve different purposes, though. A styptic pencil will stop a cut better, but you wouldn't really want to rub your whole face with it, lest you be left looking like you have clown makeup on. The alum bloc is more for skin conditioning/healing, but it will help with moderate weepers...
What I would do is just grab a styptic pencil next time you were at the store, and throw in an alum block next time you're ordering something else at SRD or somewhere that has one.

Thanked: 94I have seen Pure alum blocks for sale as deoderant in stores that cater to the "Green" community. They have no other ingredients that would react poorly with shaved skin, but I have not tried it as an AS.

You might also try putting up a WTB in the classifieds. I know if I had either on hand, I'd send them for the cost of shipping (which would be about $3).

Most of the Alum for sale in stores as a deoderant, is Ammonium Alum, as opposed to potassium Alum, which is more suitable for use after shaving. The Ammonium Alum is a little harsh.
