First "real" straight shave & a website every newbie has to visit
I received in the mail today my first shave ready razor. After a couple weeks of shaving with a shavette I was a little nervous but I could hardly wait to give it a try. Into the shower I went. After a shower, Proraso pre-post and lathering with Proraso it was the moment of truth. As I dragged the blade across my face I noticed more resistance than I was used to with the machine sharpened blades and it concerned me a little. However, I pressed on. After a first wtg pass I felt pretty good so I lathered up and did my now somewhat routine second pass which is a combo atg xtg. After washing the lather off and splashing on some witch hazel I am pleased to report that I had not a single nic, no blood, less irritation than I am used to and while not bbs I am quite pleased with the results.
Now to the website every newbie needs to visit. Thank you to Larry at whippeddog.com. He is a priceless resource to a man on a budget trying to put together a kit. Incredible customer service amazing prices. Just an all around great guy. Check him out, I assure you it will be worth it.

Congratulations. The Shavette may be unforgiving, but it does teach you how to handle a straight.

Thanks Ace. That's for sure. If I hadn't been able to practice for the last couple weeks I know I'd have a much different story to tell tonight.
