PS -- the blades from SRD are sharp. If you were using a _little_ too much pressure to shave with a slightly-dull blade, that would have been a _lot_ too much pressure for the SRD edge -- you'd get razor burn, or a cut.

thanks, I did this as well, started using only the flaschner blade I felt most safe with( and is no where near as sharp as my SRD blades) although I still cut myself yesterday with it,lol. I just have to really relax more and back off the pressure.

Success! Just finished this mornings shave with no nicks, cuts or errors! Nice to break the slump and thanks for all the great advice here. First I chose my favorite 100 year old Flaschner Dovo[IMG][/IMG] which has not bit me yet.

then I really backed off the pressure and just tried to wipe the lather off. Third, I changed my passes and skipped the area I've been cutting for the end. Worked great! No BBS but I don't care at all. Just needed to break the cycle and I did. Confidence is back. Finished, as usual with my Merkur DE and there was almost no cleanup to do. )

I wish I had seen this pageShaving passes - Straight Razor Place Wiki very early on. I was confused about the basics of hair growth and this answers a lot of my questions.

using the shaving pass info from the wiki I had another great shave this morning. knowing exactly what direction to start each pass with helped a ton, especially for my confidence.I was starting XTG even on my sideburns and this didnt' start things off right at all. Much happier now )
