    Default I'm about to cheat....

    Greetings everyone,

It's Themba, long time member, who rarely posts, but constantly browses and reads. This site is such a great resource, I find I don't have to ask to many questions, since someone else will. Makes me wonder how many "ghost members" are out there.....

Anyway, what I was referring to was in regards to stropping. My stropping technique is getting quite good, thanks to Lynn's Video. However, I am restoring a Kanner slide stroke stropping device made for straight razors. I just ordered some custom cut leather from Keith at www.handamerican.com. The size of the leather is 3 inches wide x 40 inches long. It will fold over the Kanner device with handles at both ends for me to row back and forth. The Kanner then flips the blade back and forth on the strop at the correct angle.

I am heavily into wedge bladed safety razors. Most who know me from SMF know of my wedge blade obsession. I picked up the Kanner due to it's similarity to other stropping devices I successfully use for my wedge blades. Consider it stropping made easy....It should fill in quite nicely until my regular stropping skills reach perfection.

    Hi Themba,

Good to see you posting here. I've enjoyed your comments on Gem single-edges over on SMF. They've caused me to take my old Gem out of the collector realm and add it to the rotation.

This device sounds very interesting, keep us informed how it works.
