Default Hello! Nice to meet you all!

Greetings! I've only just discovered this very nice community of people and decided right away to register, I've only been into shaving with a straight razor for a few months now (Still having trouble finding which hone to use) however I have managed to put a nice edge on a razor using a Arkansas stone and a 6k king stone (Tight budget lol) and my first shave went pretty well it was with an old Shur-edge I only nicked myself 2 times once on the chin and once below the ear. I guess obsessing for years, watching videos and reading reviews payed off. Anyways Nice to meet everyone !

Welcome from another Floridian. I'm amazed that you were able to get an acceptable shave from the stones that you are using. Your Robeson SurEdge is made of very good steel and will take a great edge. I'm willing to bet that if you sent your razor to one of the professionals listed in the classified section of the forum, you will be amazed at how much better your razor will shave. A well honed edge will make all the difference in your shaving experience. Again, welcome to the forum and don't hesitate to ask about anything that concerns you. There are plenty of folks here who are willing to help.

    Regards - Walt

I've been eying the member services a lot actually, I currently have 2 razors and plan on sending them off to get restored and honed this weekend or next if everything goes ok financial wise. The SurEdge is in ok shape, picked it for 8 bucks the blade doesn't have any rust but the etching isn't visible anymore I'm guessing it's had a lot of use but has been maintained just as well. The other one I just recently purchased is a 1720 dadalus I got lucky and got it for 9, the blade is in very nice shape just 2 black spots but it still shines great, one of the scales is broken though D:

Believe it or not the Arkansas stone was a fine pocket one LOL I had to do very slow X patterns to make sure the entire blade was getting sharpened. As were the 6k was able to fit the entire length of the blade. I absolutely refuse to try and hone the 1720 though because it's already sharp and I feel that if I try to hone it it'll lose it's edge, so I definitely want to get it done professionally by an experienced person. I'm hoping by the end of the year I'll be able to get me a set of hones and perfect the art as well.
