To me there is a noticeable difference. I am almost at the point where I may stop using the 0.25. It can be to sharp for me on some razors. What I am trying to do now is to find the abrasive that will give me not just sharp but also a smooth shave. Smooth in the sense of how it feels on my skin.

    Question

Randy what method would you use to remove the excess paste from the paddle? Should i use a pumice stone?

Randy is it less irritation, closer shaves or both?

Sorry for the late response. To remove excess paste from a paddle strop just wipe it with a papertowel or first apply some GOOP hand cleaner, rub it around then remove with a paper towel or some such.

Since I take medications my skin is more sensitive to irritation. Thats why I want a more comfortable edge.
Closeness is not an issue for me.

But wouldn't you get more comfort out of the 0.5 Cr-ox paste than out of a 0.25 diamond paste? Or would the increased sharpness make up for the rougher scratches?

I get more comfort from the 0.5 micron chrome oxide and it gives me a very sharp edge. The 0.25 diamond is even sharper but feels uncomfortable to my skin.

    To each his own,

The reason I'm asking is because I am contemplating getting a 2-sided paddle with 1.0 and 0.5 chromium oxide pastes instead of going diamond. Even though my skin is only sensitive and not ultra-sensitive, I still like to pamper it lol.
